* Yes, you can access the trackFor the times/costs etc go to 'Track Info'. Bookings Necessary to avoid disappointment.

* Our resident Latvian luger Guntis Rekis, veteran of four Olympics, is now in residence in Naseby and has spent the past couple of weeks repairing and tuning sleds.  Due to family commitments, sadly we won't be seeing Greg Jones down-here this winter.

This is Guntis competing for Latvia in the Olympic Luge event at Vancouver:

* Check-out our Calendar for an extensive range of events happening over the winter months of 2010, and remember to book early, folks. There's also now a blog-page keeping you all up-to-date with happenings on and off the track - thanks to Geoff ('Mr Luge NZ 1975')

Public Bookings, which includes the services of our instructor, Guntis, can be arranged by calling The Skating Rink on (03) 444-9270. For more info/costs for the public etc take a look here. We have our races at the weekends so to see when they are go to the calendar. There will also be days over winter when Guntis is off taking a break - so that's another good reason why booking ahead of time is recommended. Note: The luge operation is very weather/track dependent, so if you are travelling from outside Naseby it pays to phone ahead of time. It may be raining in say Queenstown or Dunedin, but fine a Naseby.

* The 2010 New Zealand Championships will be run on Sunday 15th August, a competition that will also double as the Oceania Championships thanks to the presence of 7 Australian Luge athletes.

* Wanted: Race Officials. As a fledgling sport in New Zealand we are starting from square–one & we need to train-up, some of the family and friends, hanging around the track, as officials eg. time-keepers. So if racing-down-the-track isn’t your thing, we have an important role for you to play, in the growth of Luge in New Zealand, and ultimately getting our athletes to The Winter Olympics.
